Mount Anak Krakatau, located in the waters of the Sunda Strait, showed volcanic activity in the form of an eruption again on Saturday (27/06/2026) afternoon, specifically at 16:44 WIB. Nevertheless, the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) confirmed that the mountain's status remains at Level II (Alert).
Head of the Mount Anak Krakatau Monitoring Post in Hargopancuran, Andi Suardi, emphasized that current activity is still dominated by emissions. Although there has been no escalation requiring a status upgrade, the public, fishermen, and tourists are still required to comply with safe limits. All parties are strictly prohibited from entering the area within a two-kilometer radius of the active crater to anticipate potential unexpected hazards.
Responding to the advisory, tour boat operators in South Lampung have adjusted operations since Saturday. Tourists wishing to visit the area are now only allowed to view from a distance by sailing around the island, without being permitted to land or climb.
This preventive measure was taken as a form of responsibility by tourism operators to maintain the safety of visitors amidst fluctuating volcanic conditions. Residents and tourists are urged not to believe unverified information and to monitor the latest developments through official channels provided by the relevant agencies.
