The Branch Executive Board of the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI) in Kutai Kartanegara (Kukar) is developing a strategic plan for the 2026 East Kalimantan Provincial Sports Week (Porprov), which will be held in Paser Regency. IMI Kukar's main focus is currently split between two flagship sports: motorcycle racing and Mini 4WD.

Secretary of the IMI Kukar Branch, Adji Ades Caritabuana, stated that high optimism surrounds the Mini 4WD sport, particularly in the Dash and Tuned classes. This confidence comes after Kukar athletes won a gold medal at the recent Aceh-Sumut PON, even though the sport was still an exhibition event at the time.

To secure the gold medal target at the upcoming Porprov, IMI Kukar has prepared its top athletes, including Fandrayoda Kastara Gafila, Tayyib Sultan, Nofan, and Riki Nur Fazri. They are expected to be the main pillar for medal tallies for the Kutai Kartanegara contingent.

On the other hand, IMI Kukar is also striving to maintain its dominance in motorcycle racing. Armed with a performance of one gold medal and one bronze medal at the previous Porprov in Berau, the executive board is determined to match or even surpass that achievement in the upcoming event.

However, preparations this time have not been entirely smooth. Adji Ades regretted the organizing committee's decision to eliminate the Expert U23-U40 class in motorcycle racing due to budget efficiency reasons. Considering that this event was a major medal source for Kukar, the team is now forced to adjust its strategy.

Despite facing these obstacles, IMI Kukar remains committed to staying focused on the remaining contested categories. All relevant parties are urged to continue providing full support to motivate the athletes to perform at their best and bring honor to the region at the province's largest sporting event.
