The Head of the National Narcotics Board (BNN) of the Republic of Indonesia, Police Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto, highlighted the strategic role of sports as a means of national character building. According to him, planned physical activities not only build physical endurance but also foster high discipline and integrity as the primary shield in preventing narcotics abuse in society.

This statement was delivered by Suyudi while opening the 2026 National Police Chief (Kapolri) Cup Basketball Tournament in Jakarta on Friday (3/7). On that occasion, he linked the philosophy of the game of basketball, such as solid defense and fast transition offense, with the values of professionalism that state apparatuses must possess in serving the community.

This sporting event is part of the series of celebrations for the 80th Bhayangkara Anniversary, carrying the spirit of "National Police for the Public". The tournament brings together various elements, ranging from representatives of ministries, government institutions, to communities and high school students, to compete in the 5-on-5 and 3x3 categories.

More than just a talent showcase, the tournament, which runs from July 1 to July 14, 2026, is designed as a space for strategic collaboration. Suyudi emphasized that the cross-institutional synergy built through the sports field is expected to strengthen brotherhood while creating more harmonious coordination among state apparatuses.

Through the holding of the 2026 Kapolri Cup, BNN hopes that the spirit of sportsmanship and togetherness that emerges can reflect resilient apparatuses. By prioritizing a healthy and active lifestyle, it is hoped that individual community resilience against narcotics threats can continue to increase to realize a cleaner and safer environment.
