Regent of North Barito, H. Shalahuddin, officially dispatched the National Student Sports Olympiad (O2SN) contingent of North Barito Regency for the year 2026. The send-off ceremony held in the courtyard of the Regent's Official Residence marked the beginning of the local young athletes' journey in the prestigious Central Kalimantan Province-level event in Palangka Raya.

Head of the North Barito Regency Education Office, M. Iman Topik, reported that the delegation consists of 60 individuals, including 28 high-performing athletes selected through a rigorous regency-level process, alongside 32 coaches and officials. The athletes will compete in various sports, ranging from athletics and swimming to exhibition branches like chess, scheduled for July 15–18, 2026.

In his address, Regent Shalahuddin expressed deep appreciation for the hard work of the selected students. He emphasized that O2SN is not merely an arena to compete for medals, but a strategic platform to foster character, discipline, and camaraderie among students. The Regent hoped the athletes would serve as regional ambassadors who uphold sportsmanship in the arena.

"Achievement is the result of struggle and dedication. Compete with full confidence and treat every match as an opportunity to keep growing," Regent Shalahuddin said while motivating the contingent. He also instructed the supporting team to continuously monitor the health and mental condition of the athletes throughout the competition.

The ceremony concluded with hopes that the entire delegation would experience smooth operations and safety during their schedule of events in Palangka Raya. The North Barito Regency Government holds great expectations for the delegates to achieve stellar accomplishments that bring honor to the region on the provincial stage.
