The Klungkung Regency Government is now prioritizing the development of a tourism sector that not only pursues economic growth, but also focuses on environmental restoration. This strategic move is realized through support for the 'Nyegara Gunung Experience' innovation located in Besan Village, Dawan District.
Klungkung Regent, I Made Satria, during a field evaluation visit on Wednesday (8/7/2026), emphasized that this initiative represents an embodiment of adaptive governance. The concept integrates ecosystem restoration from upstream to downstream areas based on the Balinese cosmological philosophy of Segara Gunung.
More than just a competition entry, Regent Satria hopes that the model implemented in Besan Village can serve as a blueprint for other villages in Bali. He highlighted the importance of continuous guidance from the evaluation team so that best practices in managing destinations based on local wisdom can continue to thrive and deliver tangible economic benefits to the local community.
Head of the Evaluation Team for the Bali Swacita Nugraha Innovation Competition, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Wayan Supartha, M.S., also expressed high appreciation. According to him, the Nyegara Gunung Experience successfully addresses modern tourism challenges by reviving the spirit of traditional governance. This integration of local values is deemed capable of creating a balance between economic activities, cultural preservation efforts, and natural ecosystem recovery.
