The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (MOCST) of Vietnam has officially evaluated its operational performance for the first six months of 2026. In a conference led by Minister Lam Thi Phuong Thanh on July 9, the ministry reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening institutional reforms and accelerating strategic sectors under its purview.
Throughout the first half of the year, the ministry's primary focus was on reforming the legal system. A total of 26 regulatory documents, including National Assembly resolutions and Government decrees, were proposed to provide legal certainty for the development of the cultural and tourism industries. This step is crucial in aligning the implementation of national policies, including the development of Vietnamese culture in line with the mandates of the Politburo and the National Assembly.
In sports, Vietnam made proud history with the U17 football team qualifying for the 2026 FIFA U-17 World Cup finals, following their success in the ASEAN U-17 Championship. Additionally, the tourism sector showed a strong recovery trend, recording nearly 12.3 million international tourist arrivals, which contributed 569 trillion VND to the national revenue.
The cultural sector also continues to be strengthened through the preservation of cultural heritage and the organization of various national festivals that arouse public patriotism. The success in maintaining the stability and quality of these cultural activities is deemed capable of creating a solid moral and spiritual foundation for the Vietnamese people amid global dynamics.
Entering the second half of 2026, the ministry is committed to optimizing digital transformation through the "1+1+34+N" data ecosystem. The government's future focus is to transform tourism into a key economic sector and integrate the cultural industry more broadly, in order to make a tangible contribution to the country's ambitious economic growth targets.
