Global automaker Chery has further strengthened its position in the eco-friendly vehicle segment by introducing its latest SUV, the iCar V25. This strategic move was revealed through the latest homologation documents from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), released in mid-July 2026.
This sport utility vehicle (SUV) features Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) technology. The advanced propulsion system is designed to blend pure electric efficiency with the flexibility of an internal combustion engine acting as a range-extending generator. To avoid trademark issues in international markets, Chery plans to market this model under the name "iCaur" outside domestic China.
Looking at its design, the iCar V25 exhibits a masculine aesthetic dominated by a boxy body shape and short front overhangs, emphasizing its rugged character for adventure needs. The vehicle features a wheelbase of 2,820 mm, promising a spacious cabin and optimal comfort for five passengers.
In terms of powertrain, the SUV is equipped with a 33.679 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack manufactured by Hefei Guoxuan High-Tech. Based on WLTC standard testing, this battery configuration enables the iCar V25 to travel 145 to 150 kilometers on pure electric power alone.
