Apple has successfully recorded an impressive achievement amid the stagnation of the global personal computer (PC) industry. According to the latest data from the International Data Corporation (IDC), the tech giant from Cupertino became the only major manufacturer capable of posting double-digit growth in the second quarter of 2026.
The report revealed that Mac unit shipments reached 6.7 million devices, a significant surge of 10.1% year-on-year. This achievement places Apple far ahead of other competitors in the global map of top-tier PC vendor competition.
Apple's stellar performance is in stark contrast to the condition of the industry as a whole, which is currently hit by a memory chip supply crisis. IDC noted that total global PC shipments fell 4.9% to 68.2 million units. This figure also broke the positive growth trend that had previously been maintained for nine consecutive quarters.
Meanwhile, other major players experienced quite heavy market pressure. Lenovo, while maintaining its position as the market leader with a 24.4% share, had to face a 2.1% decline in shipments. A similar situation befell HP and Dell, which recorded declines in shipments of 9% and 5% respectively in the same period.
