In an effort to strengthen Indonesia's bargaining position, the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) has set digital talent development as a top priority to shift Indonesia's role from merely a user to a technology creator.
Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital, Nezar Patria, stated that in the era of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital industrial transformation, the quality of human innovation is the most crucial decisive factor. According to him, a qualified human resource capacity is capable of overcoming infrastructure barriers and becoming the driving engine of the nation's competitiveness in the international market.
Nezar emphasized the urgency for Indonesia to escape its dependency as a technology market. Therefore, synergy with higher education is a strategic key to producing adaptive experts. Through initiatives such as the AI Talent Factory program, the government seeks to align academic curricula with the real demands of future industries across various regions of Indonesia.
Furthermore, digital talent development is not solely focused on technical capabilities. Young practitioners are expected to understand the dynamics of technological geopolitics and the global digital economy. With this comprehensive background, Indonesia is projected to cultivate a generation of innovators who are not only competent, but also highly competitive in the global technology ecosystem.
