The Buleleng Regency Government (Pemkab) in Bali is strengthening its strategic steps to make the region a hub for hosting various sports championships, both at national and international levels. This initiative aims not only to scout talented young athletes but also to serve as a driving force for the tourism sector and the local economy.
The Vice Regent of Buleleng, Gede Supriatna, reaffirmed this ambition on the sidelines of the National Championship (Kejurnas) of the Indonesia Kempo Federation (FKI) held at GOR Undiksha Jinengdalem, Friday (10/7/2026). He considers Buleleng's success in hosting national events as valuable capital for the region to face greater challenges in the future.
"Over the past year, Buleleng has proven its capacity by organizing two national championships, including the world-class Vovinam event. We hope this achievement can inspire other sports branches to host championships with international standards," Supriatna said.
Furthermore, the man who also serves as the General Chairperson of KONI Buleleng explained that every sporting event creates a domino effect on public welfare. The arrival of athletes, coaches, and officials from various regions is certain to trigger an increase in tourist visits, directly impacting the economic circulation in Buleleng.
Echoing this sentiment, the Chairman of the FKI Kejurnas Committee, Yulianto Maris, revealed that the event, participated in by 143 athletes from 14 provinces, is a crucial platform for grooming outstanding athletes. In collaboration with the local government, his party is even designing an ambitious plan to make Buleleng the venue for the upcoming Kempo World Championship, given FKI's track record of successfully organizing world-class events five times.
