Deputy Chairman of Commission II of the Batu Bara Regency Regional Legislative Council (DPRD), Suprayitno, expressed full support for the initiative of the Inter-Ethnic Communication Forum (FKAE) to build an integrated arts, culture, sports, and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) area in Air Putih District. This strategic plan is expected to trigger new economic growth in the region.
The politician from the National Mandate Party (PAN) faction assessed that the integrated area concept is a visionary step. The presence of this activity center is considered crucial in aligning modern infrastructure development, such as the Kuala Tanjung Port, with the preservation of local wisdom and community empowerment.
According to Suprayitno, the Batu Bara region needs a representative venue to welcome tourists and business players passing through the local industrial area. This integrated facility could later be utilized to promote customs, handicrafts, typical culinary delights, and cross-ethnic performing arts to a wider public.
In addition to approving the infrastructure proposal, the legislature also appreciated FKAE's consistency in nurturing diversity in Batu Bara. The forum is deemed successful in organizing the annual Arts and Culture Week (PSPB), which serves as tangible proof that social harmony in this area has high selling value for the local tourism sector.
The development plan for this integrated area is proposed to occupy a 10-hectare plot of land near the Indrapura Toll gate, on the border between Air Putih and Sei Suka districts. The land currently holds Right to Cultivate (HGU) status belonging to PT Muis, and it is hoped that it can be donated to the local government so that this prestigious project, which integrates cultural and economic aspects, can be realized immediately.
