The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has officially launched a revolutionary step in an effort to restore the national team's glory. This strategic move is realized through the appointment of football legend Paolo Maldini as the new Technical Director, along with involving former Brazilian national team star Leonardo as a special advisor for the federation.
This crucial decision was announced directly by FIGC President Giovanni Malagò. The step was taken amidst the federation's efforts to overcome the performance crisis that has plagued the Azzurri in recent times. The appointment of both individuals became FIGC's top priority before deciding on the head coach who will lead the national team moving forward.
Malagò emphasized that the presence of Maldini and Leonardo is a vital element in a long-term project designed to return Italy to the pinnacle of international competition. This ambitious project has been drawn up with the main target of optimal performance in European tournaments leading up to its peak at the 2030 World Cup.
"They are two figures who complement each other within the same vision. We have established a four-year work commitment as the main foundation for Italy's journey towards the 2030 world stage," said Malagò as quoted from an ESPN report.
