The Provincial Government of Gorontalo officially opened the 2nd Provincial Community Sports Festival (Forprov) of the Indonesian Community Sports Committee (KORMI) at Bolihutuo Beach, Boalemo Regency. The hosting of this sports event at a leading tourist destination is targeted to strengthen the concept of sports tourism in the region.
The Governor of Gorontalo, Gusnar Ismail, highly appreciated the selection of Bolihutuo Beach as the center for this year's Forprov. According to him, the combination of the natural beauty of the white-sand beach and the bustle of sports activities is a strategic step to attract tourists while driving the economy of the local community through the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector.
Gusnar also encouraged the sports community in Gorontalo to continue synergizing in promoting local tourist destinations through various similar events. He believes that every large-scale community activity attended by many people will always bring a positive domino effect to local revenue and improve the welfare of small business owners.
For information, the 2nd Forprov of KORMI Gorontalo runs for three days, involving 1,723 sports enthusiasts from 22 sports parent organizations. Apart from being an event for competition and recreation, this event is also an important selection medium for regional athletes to represent Gorontalo Province at the upcoming National Community Sports Festival (Fornas) 2027 in Central Sulawesi.
