The Jatim Open roller skating championship, competing for the 2026 East Java Governor's Cup, has officially kicked off at the roller skating track of Kanjuruhan Stadium, Kepanjen, Malang. The event, scheduled to be opened directly by the Governor of East Java, marks a new historic milestone in the national sports world through the implementation of cutting-edge, web-based match management technology.
The Chairman of the Indonesian Roller Skating Association (Perserosi) of Malang Regency, Priyo Sudibyo, revealed that the innovative timing system adopted from cycling technology is designed to guarantee transparency and fair play. This system is capable of accurately and in real-time detecting time differences down to the smallest millimeter at the finish line.
Furthermore, this web-based platform integrates all stages of the competition, from the registration process to the presentation of the standings leaderboard, which can be accessed instantly by the public. Moreover, the match broadcast quality has now been upgraded with dynamic visual standards resembling MotoGP broadcasts, to provide a more informative viewing experience for the public.
Participant enthusiasm was recorded as very high, with a total of 2,436 athletes from 133 teams across Indonesia. They will compete in 26 event categories spanning five main disciplines: speed, freestyle, RX, skateboard, and aggressive, spread across several locations in Malang Regency.
In addition to the competitive aspect, this event also serves as a driver for the local economy, involving 53 MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise) booths around the venue. Priyo emphasized that the successful implementation of technology in this event is expected to serve as a prototype to be adopted at the PON (National Sports Week) and future international events such as the SEA Games in the future.
