The Chief of Naval Staff (Kasal), Admiral TNI Dr. Muhammad Ali, officially opened the 2026 Indonesian Navy Sports Week (PORAL). The opening ceremony, held solemnly at the Trisila Field, Navy Headquarters (Mabesal), Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Monday (13/7/2026), marked the beginning of the showcase of skills by athletes from various work units within the Navy.
Carrying the theme “Through the Navy Sports Week, We Build a Competitive Spirit, Discipline, and Integrity to Realize Superior Jalasena Soldiers”, this event is participated in by contingents from various Major Commands (Kotama), including the Indonesian Fleet Command (Koarmada RI), Navy Education and Training Doctrine Development Command (Kodiklatal), Navy Hydrography and Oceanography Center (Pushidrosal), to the Marine Corps. Over the next four days, athletes will compete in five prestigious sports, namely soccer, volleyball, tennis, table tennis, and badminton.
In his speech, Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali emphasized that PORAL 2026 is a strategic instrument to measure the effectiveness of sports development in each unit. Besides being an event to search for talented young athletes projected for the 2026 Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Cup, this activity is seen as a crucial means to forge the character of soldiers.
“This sports week is not just about chasing titles. More than that, it is a space to foster a spirit of togetherness, sportsmanship, and high discipline, which are the main foundations in carrying out state duties,” said the Chief of Naval Staff in his message to all athletes.
Furthermore, the Chief of Naval Staff emphasized that the professionalism shown on the field is expected to reflect the physical and mental readiness of Jalasena soldiers. Through this event, the Indonesian Navy hopes for the birth of highly competitive athletes who are not only capable of bringing honor to the institution's name on national and international stages, but also strengthening solidarity and esprit de corps to safeguard the sovereignty of the Nusantara seas.
