The Kedung Badak subdistrict in Tanah Sareal District, Bogor City, is currently prioritizing the resolution of several crucial urban issues. During a mapping of regional potential and problems held on Tuesday (28/7/2026), the local government set flood mitigation, waste management, and business district zoning as the main focuses of the regional development program.
With an area of approximately 2.40 square kilometers and a population exceeding 30,000, Kedung Badak is one of the most densely populated areas in Bogor City. The area has unique characteristics, combining densely populated residential zones with a busy commercial and service corridor along Jalan Sholeh Iskandar.
The Head of Tanah Sareal District, Rokib, emphasized the importance of a field-based approach in formulating policies for this dynamic urban area. According to him, directly gathering aspirations through activities at Integrated Healthcare Posts (Posyandu) or Women Farmers Groups (KWT) will make government work programs more targeted and in line with the real needs of local residents.
Responding to seasonal flooding, the Head of Kedung Badak Subdistrict, Ahnim Sutangyat, explained that the current mitigation focus is directed towards the RT 04 RW 09 area. This point is a crucial access route to public facilities such as schools and Puskesmas (community health centers). The subdistrict government has coordinated with the River Basin Territory Office (BBWS) and the Ministry of Public Works to carry out drainage normalization and plan the construction of new drainage systems.
In addition to drainage normalization, the construction of retaining walls (DPT) is also planned in landslide-prone areas to prepare for extreme weather. Meanwhile, in the public service sector, the subdistrict plans to subdivide neighborhood units (RT) in the RW 10 area to maximize the efficiency of administrative services for the approximately 60 households living there.
Regarding sanitation, the subdistrict is collaborating with the Environmental Agency (DLH) to intensify waste collection at vulnerable temporary waste disposal sites (TPS), such as in RT 08 RW 01 and the RW 08 TPS. Campaigns for waste sorting at the household level and regular community cleanup efforts continue to be promoted to prevent the illegal dumping of waste, such as discarded mattresses and construction debris, into waterways.
The rapid growth of the business sector along Jalan Sholeh Iskandar is also under close supervision. The subdistrict government is tightening inspections on building permits and groundwater utilization permits for business owners to maintain spatial planning order and create a conducive investment climate. This enforcement effort is supported by intensive coordination with local TNI (military) and Polri (police) elements.
