The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) of the Republic of Indonesia took a responsive measure by distributing health logistics aid to the fire site of the Jatiwaringin Landfill (TPA) in Tangerang Regency, Banten. This effort was carried out to ensure that the surrounding community has adequate access to medical treatment amidst dense fire smoke.
Head of the Health Crisis Center at Kemenkes, Agus Jamaludin, stated that the distribution of these logistics is focused on strengthening the local healthcare capacity. Some of the crucial equipment provided includes 15 oxygen concentrator units, 11,500 medical masks, and air purifiers to minimize the risk of respiratory issues due to smoke exposure.
To support field operations, Kemenkes also set up emergency hospital tents equipped with cots (veltbeds). The deployment of these facilities was based on coordination with the Tangerang Regency Health Office and community health centers (puskesmas) in buffer areas such as Rajeg, Mauk, and Sukadiri Puskesmas, considering the landfill location is quite far from permanent health facilities.
One of the medical tents is now fully operational and serving the public 24 hours a day. Meanwhile, a backup tent unit is on standby at Rajeg Puskesmas as an anticipatory measure in case the impact expands or other urgent needs arise. The ministry emphasized that it will continue to monitor the situation on the ground and work closely with local governments until the emergency response status is declared over.
