The Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) through the Health Crisis Center responded rapidly to the emergency fire situation at the Jatiwaringin Landfill (TPA) in Tangerang Regency. This step was taken as a health mitigation effort for residents exposed to thick smoke and to ensure that access to medical services is maintained in the affected locations.
The Head of the Health Crisis Center of the Ministry of Health, Agus Jamaludin, stated that his department has distributed various essential medical equipment to strengthen services in the field. The assistance includes 15 oxygen concentrators, oximeters, and thousands of medical surgical masks and gloves to anticipate respiratory problems due to air pollution caused by the fire.
In addition to medical logistics, the Ministry of Health has prepared emergency infrastructure in the form of two field hospital tents along with camp beds (veltbeds). Currently, one of the tents has been set up in the affected area, while the other unit is stationed at the Rajeg Community Health Center (Puskesmas) to anticipate an escalation in healthcare service needs at new points.
The establishment of this 24-hour health post is the result of intensive coordination between the Ministry of Health, the Tangerang Regency Health Office, and local Puskesmas. This decision was made considering the geographical conditions of the location, which is quite far from permanent health facilities, so the presence of the emergency post is expected to provide a quicker response for the affected community.
Until the emergency response period ends, the Ministry of Health reaffirms its commitment to continuously monitor the situation and cooperate with the local government to ensure that the medical needs of residents remain optimally met during this disaster.
