Indonesia's participation as a Partner Country at the international industrial exhibition INNOPROM 2026 in Yekaterinburg, Russia, opens a new chapter in bilateral relations. The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is currently exploring strategic cooperation with the Government of the Kirov Region, one of Russia's leading manufacturing hubs, to expand market access and strengthen the domestic manufacturing sector.
This concrete step was discussed in a bilateral meeting between the Indonesian Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, and the Chairman of the Government of the Kirov Region, Mikhail Anatolyevich Sandalov. Both parties agreed to draft a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as a legal framework for cooperation in various vital sectors, including trade in raw materials, chemical products, industrial components, technology transfer, investment, and industrial human resources (HR) capacity development.
Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang stated that the Kirov Region has robust manufacturing capabilities, making it a highly potential strategic partner for Indonesia. This cooperation is expected to not only increase bilateral trade figures but also accelerate the absorption of advanced technologies by the national industry to boost competitiveness on the global stage.
To realize this agreement, the Ministry of Industry plans to facilitate various business forums, seminars, and interactive consultations that bring together business players from both countries directly. This effort is expected to pave the way for Indonesian manufactured products to penetrate the Russian and wider Eurasian markets.
Echoing the Minister of Industry, the Director General of Resilience, Zoning, and International Industrial Access (KPAII) at the Ministry of Industry, Tri Supondy, emphasized the importance of concrete action following the meeting. The government invites a business delegation from Kirov to visit the Indonesian Pavilion at INNOPROM 2026 and to travel directly to Indonesia to explore investment potential firsthand, creating concrete and sustainable business partnerships.
