Responding to developments in the national political landscape, the General Chair of the Indonesian Cyber Media Union (SMSI), Firdaus, delivered strategic directions to all central executive board members in Jakarta on Friday (June 12, 2026). This meeting served as an important momentum to strengthen the role of cyber media across the country so that it remains steadfast within the corridor of healthy journalism.
During the session at the Central SMSI Secretariat Office, Firdaus outlined a map of political influence networks spanning global dynamics to the positions of key figures in Indonesia. This analytical step was taken to equip regional executives with the tools to understand increasingly dynamic information flows, ensuring that cyber media under the SMSI umbrella do not merely act as news presenters, but as objective information guides for the public.
Firdaus emphasized that amid intense competition in information flows, independence is a non-negotiable imperative. He urged media owners and journalists to heighten their sensitivity to strategic issues, both at local and national levels, without getting trapped in the currents of specific interests.
The interactive meeting was also attended by the Secretary-General of Central SMSI, Makali Kumar.
