Field Study Practice (PBL) I students from the Faculty of Public Health (FKM) at Hasanuddin University (Unhas) have commenced their series of activities with an initial seminar held at the Toddang Pulu Sub-district Office Hall, Sidenreng Rappang (Sidrap) Regency, on Monday (6/7). This meeting marks a strategic step for the students to align their program plans with the actual needs of the community in the area.
The coordinator of the Toddang Pulu Sub-district PBL post, Muh Alif, explained that the primary focus of this activity is to conduct an in-depth assessment of various health issues developing in the community. This analysis is deemed crucial as a foundation for designing preventive measures to reduce disease risk while sustainably improving the health status of the residents.
The Toddang Pulu Sub-district government welcomed this cross-sector collaboration. The synergy between academia and local government is expected to produce accurate health data mapping. This data can later serve as a reference for the sub-district government in formulating health policies that are more targeted and community-oriented.
Through their active involvement in this program, the students are expected to not only fulfill their academic obligations but also make tangible contributions to community-based health development. The final outcomes of the data collection and analysis conducted by these students are hoped to provide strategic recommendations for local stakeholders to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the health sector.
