The Makassar City Government is finalizing preparations for Gunung Sari Subdistrict, which was selected to represent the city in the South Sulawesi Province Subdistrict Competition. Makassar City Regional Secretary (Sekda), Andi Zulkifly, directly inspected the final readiness on the ground to ensure that all evaluation indicators have been optimally met.
During the inspection on Friday (July 24, 2026), the Regional Secretary was accompanied by the Assistant III of the Makassar City Government, Firman Pagarra, along with representatives from relevant Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD). This step is crucial as the evaluation process by the provincial-level jury is scheduled to take place early next week on Monday.
Andi Zulkifly examined in detail a number of key indicators that are the focus of the evaluation. These aspects include food security, environmental preservation, economic strengthening through Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the effectiveness of waste banks, healthy home programs, the concept of urban farming, and the activities of the Merah Putih Cooperative.
The former Head of Lakkang Subdistrict emphasized the importance of synergy and active involvement from all elements of society. He appreciated the unity of RT/RW (neighborhood/community association) administrators, youth organizations, and management groups of local empowerment programs working hand in hand to prepare their subdistrict ahead of the evaluation day.
One of the sectors receiving special attention during this visit was the Merah Putih Cooperative. The Makassar Regional Secretary requested that this business unit not only be administratively orderly, but must also demonstrate real activities that impact residents, such as the consistent supply of rice, 3 kg LPG gas, cooking oil, and other basic necessities.
Although he generally assessed that the preparations were progressing well, Andi Zulkifly provided several evaluation notes to be addressed immediately, particularly regarding the optimization of the waste bank. He encouraged increased participation from local residents to become active members of the waste bank to strengthen clean environmental management.
The Makassar City Government hopes that the remaining time can be utilized to perfect all shortcomings. With thorough preparation, Gunung Sari Subdistrict is expected to achieve maximum results and be selected to represent South Sulawesi Province in a similar competition at the national level.
