PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI) continues to refine its strategic steps through a transformation program titled BRIvolution Reignite. This initiative is designed to strengthen the company's business fundamentals while expanding its tangible contribution to people's economic growth and government priority programs under the auspices of Danantara Indonesia.
BRI President Director, Hery Gunardi, explained that this integrated transformation serves as a compass for the company to enhance its global competitiveness without losing its identity as the main supporter of the people's economy. According to him, this framework will ensure that the bank's operations run more efficiently, healthily, and are oriented toward long-term value creation for all stakeholders.
This major strategy rests on two main pillars. First, the Transform the Funding Franchise pillar, which focuses on reducing the cost of funds through low-cost fund mobilization (CASA) and the optimization of banking transaction services. Second, the Revamp Existing Core and Build New Core pillar, which boosts the microcredit sector as the core business while opening up space for new consumer business growth.
The success of this strategy is reflected in the company's financial performance in the first quarter of 2026. BRI Group's consolidated assets grew by 7.2 percent year-on-year (yoy) to reach Rp2,250 trillion, driven by credit disbursement which grew impressively by 13.7 percent to Rp1,562 trillion. During the same period, consolidated net profit reached Rp15.5 trillion, with third-party funds (DPK) growing by 9.4 percent to Rp1,555.1 trillion, which successfully cut the cost of funds from 2.98 percent to 2.33 percent.
This expansion of financial intermediation was also directly felt by micro-entrepreneurs through People's Business Credit (KUR). Until the end of June 2026, BRI had disbursed KUR worth Rp103.81 trillion to more than 2 million MSME debtors. The agricultural sector absorbed the largest share with a coverage of 42.68 percent or equivalent to 869,285 debtors, followed by the trade sector with a share of 32.34 percent.
In addition, this state-owned bank is also a driving force behind the government's 3 Million Houses Program. Up to mid-2026, the realization of BRI's Subsidized KPR (housing loans) reached Rp18.39 trillion for 134,000 customers, the majority of which was distributed through the Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP) scheme. This contribution is strengthened by the distribution of Housing Program Loans (KPP) amounting to Rp10.7 trillion targeting developers and homebuyers to trigger a multiplier effect on job absorption.
In line with this vision, the Chief Operating Officer of Danantara Indonesia, Dony Oskaria, emphasized the importance of developing human resource quality and strong leadership in the SOE transformation process. Strong synergy is expected to maintain the business sustainability of state corporations in the face of future global market uncertainties.
