The success of an organization or innovation is no longer measured solely by the amount of financial profit achieved. Amidst various global challenges such as the climate crisis and technological disruption, the younger generation is challenged to create breakthroughs capable of delivering a real impact on society. This idea emerged during the "Green Campus Connect: Road to Permata INSPIRE" discussion themed "Beyond Profit: Creating Impactful Innovation" held at the Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia.
Responding to this phenomenon, Rosdiana Sijabat, a Professor at the School of Business and Social Innovation at Atma Jaya Catholic University, emphasized the importance of shifting the focus of innovation from merely chasing profits to being oriented toward social impact. According to her, higher education institutions play a crucial role as innovation incubators through the implementation of an Outcome-Based Education curriculum to shape a sustainable social entrepreneurship mindset in students.
From the perspective of the financial industry, the Director of Technology of Permata Bank, Ahmad Mikail Madjid, stated that technology must be positioned as a supporting tool, while public welfare remains the main goal. He explained how banking digitalization is now focusing more on customer needs (customer centricity) while maintaining robust risk management to face cyber threats.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Fahmi Rachmattulah, Director of Strategy & Corporate Development at PT Fore Kopi Indonesia Tbk, shared his experience in designing solution-oriented businesses. Through an online-to-offline (O2O) business model, Fore Kopi successfully reduced operational costs to offer quality products at affordable prices, while also empowering the local supply chain, such as local coffee farmers and domestic palm sugar producers.
This interactive discussion reinforced that creating sustainable solutions requires close synergy between academia as a talent producer, industry players as field executors, and the banking sector as a provider of access. Through the Permata INSPIRE initiative in partnership with Katadata Green, such collaborations are expected to continue in order to address future social and environmental challenges.
