The Bogor Regency Government is finalizing a strategic plan for the construction of a cable car transportation system in the Puncak tourist area. This ambitious project is designed to connect the starting point in the Summarecon area, Sukaraja District, to the final destination at the Gunung Mas Rest Area as an effort to integrate tourist transport.
Bogor Regent, Rudy Susmanto, emphasized that this infrastructure development will be implemented entirely through a private investment scheme. This step was taken because the project's funding requirements, which reach trillions of rupiah, are considered impossible if relying solely on the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD).
"We are committed to not burdening the APBD. Currently, we are in the feasibility study phase and are exploring intensive communication with potential investors," said Rudy in Cibinong on Monday (6/7/2026).
The concept prepared includes the provision of *park and ride* facilities in the Summarecon area as the main transit area for tourists before continuing their journey to Puncak using the cable car. With this system, the regional government hopes to provide an effective transportation alternative to reduce vehicle volume on the main Puncak route.
In addition to the cable car, the local government also evaluated several other transportation options, including plans to develop the commuter line (KRL). However, the cable car is considered the most relevant solution to be realized in order to alleviate traffic congestion while improving comfort for tourists visiting the highland area.
