The introduction of hybrid technology on the Yamaha Gear Ultima has caused several misconceptions among the public. A number of prospective buyers often mistakenly equate the scooter's hybrid system with pure electric vehicles that require battery charging via external charging stations.

He clarified that the Yamaha Gear Ultima still relies on a gasoline engine as its main powertrain. The embedded hybrid technology does not turn this motorcycle into an electric vehicle that needs to be plugged into a power source.
The core of this technology lies in the 125 cc Blue Core Hybrid engine integrated with the Hybrid Power Assist feature. The system utilizes a Smart Motor Generator (SMG) to provide an extra power boost during the first few seconds as the rider begins to accelerate. This power assistance serves to make initial acceleration feel lighter and more responsive, especially when carrying heavy loads or negotiating uphill roads.
Once the initial acceleration phase has passed, the engine returns to operating fully like a conventional scooter. With this mechanism, users can operate the vehicle without having to worry about charging a battery, making it a practical choice for daily mobility with optimized acceleration efficiency.
