To celebrate the 499th Anniversary of Jakarta, the Management Unit of the Kota Tua Area (UPK Kota Tua) hosted the Jakarta Light Festival. The two-day event, running from Sunday (21/6) to Monday (22/6), offers a series of exciting entertainment that visitors can enjoy free of charge from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM WIB.

Head of UPK Kota Tua, Denny Aputra, stated that the festival attracted a large number of tourists, with visit numbers reaching around 25,000 people on the first day. In addition to art attractions, the entertainment stage was enlivened by renowned musicians such as the band Drive, Fajar Sadboy x Blacklink, Cut Mila, and Indri AFI to entertain the crowds filling the iconic area.

The main highlight of the festival lies in the light art installations and video mapping projecting onto the facades of historic buildings around Fatahillah Square. Moreover, Betawi cultural icons like ondel-ondel were also featured with artistic light touches, making them appealing photo backdrops for visitors.

To conclude the event series, organizers scheduled a special performance by a French musician and DJ on the final day. Denny hopes these creative activities will strengthen Kota Tua's position as an inclusive cultural tourism destination while supporting Jakarta's vision as a global city that upholds local traditions and cultural values.
