Gunung Mas Agrotourism, located on Jalan Raya Puncak, Bogor Regency, West Java, remains a prime natural tourism destination for residents of Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek). Managed by PT Perkebunan Nusantara I Regional 2, this tea plantation area offers a vast expanse of green as far as the eye can see at an altitude of 800 to 1,200 meters above sea level. Its preserved natural beauty serves as an antidote to the longing for tranquility amidst the hustle and bustle of urban life.
One of the main selling points of this destination is its highly strategic location, situated right on the main route connecting Bogor and Cianjur. Tourists can easily reach it by private vehicle via the Jagorawi Toll Road exiting at Gadog, with a travel time of about two to three hours from Jakarta under normal traffic conditions. In addition, access using public transportation such as the KRL Commuter Line followed by local transport modes is also highly adequate.
Visitors are advised to visit in the morning, especially between 06:00 and 08:00 WIB, to enjoy the best moments when a thin mist blankets the hills. During this time, the temperature ranges from 18 to 22 degrees Celsius, providing natural freshness combined with the view of the sunrise piercing through the gaps in the tea leaves.
Various recreational activities can be enjoyed by visitors at Gunung Mas. Ranging from leisurely walks along the tea plantation routes (tea walk), horseback riding around the plantation area, taking selfies against the aesthetic natural scenery, to testing their adrenaline with paragliding, which is located not far from the area. The clean air and tranquility interspersed with the sounds of nature make this place an ideal location for mental relaxation.
To ensure comfort during the visit, visitors are advised to wear warm clothing and comfortable walking shoes, as the plantation terrain is dominated by soil and light rocks. Tourists are also recommended to choose weekdays to visit in order to avoid severe traffic congestion on the Puncak route and to preserve the authentic tranquility of the natural atmosphere during their recreation.
