Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Erick Thohir expressed his appreciation for President Prabowo Subianto's vision, which places the sports sector as an important pillar of national honor. Erick shared this view during the inauguration of Senior High Officials within the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Jakarta, Friday (10/7/2026).
Erick emphasized that President Prabowo has a deep understanding of the urgency of sports development, which is not merely oriented toward instant achievements. According to him, the head of state strongly supports the paradigm of athlete development through national training centers conducted consistently and systematically over the long term.
Furthermore, the Minister of Youth and Sports revealed that President Prabowo's support also touches upon economic aspects. Sports are now viewed as a strategic sector capable of delivering a positive impact on national economic growth, moving beyond its function as just a competitive arena to win medals.
With this sustainable policy support, Erick is optimistic that Indonesia's sports ecosystem will become much stronger.
