Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) officially opened the ITB Museum on Friday (3/7/2026) in the Sasana Budaya Ganesha (Sabuga) Building area, Ganesha Campus. This inauguration marks an important milestone in the commemoration of 106 years of higher technical education in Indonesia, while also providing an educational space that documents the long journey of science, technology, art, and humanities in the country.
The Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Fadli Zon, who was present to inaugurate the museum, highly appreciated the modern concept presented. According to him, the digital technology-based approach and interactive narrative in this museum align with the national agenda to strengthen STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) literacy. Fadli hopes that the ITB Museum can serve as a reference for other museums in Indonesia in packaging history through a more immersive experience.
Rector of ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T., emphasized that this museum is not just a storage place for artifacts, but a bridge between generations. "This museum is a meeting space for the academic community, alumni, and the general public to reflect on the past in order to design the future. The main strength of this museum lies in its dynamic and relevant educational content for all groups," he said.
The development of the museum, initiated since 2018, involved cross-disciplinary collaboration of experts and academics. As a result, visitors can now enjoy four main zones that explore historical roots, research footprints, the dynamics of campus life, and future innovation projections. One of the main attractions is the 360° Dome Theater facility, which presents the history of ITB's development through immersive visual and audio simulations.
As a form of dedication to the nation's intellectual heritage, the ITB Museum is now open to the public. By combining the principles of historical preservation and cutting-edge technology, this institution is committed to making the museum a living documentation center capable of inspiring new innovations from the nation's next generation.
