The competition in the Indonesian electric vehicle (EV) market is becoming increasingly competitive with the introduction of the Omoda O4. This artificial intelligence (AI)-based electric SUV by Omoda & Jaecoo arrives offering a combination of futuristic design and advanced digital technology designed to attract automotive enthusiasts in the country.
In terms of aesthetics, the vehicle carries the Cyber Mecha Design philosophy concept, which combines elements of modern electric vehicles with a touch of science fiction. The exterior looks aggressive with sharp body lines and dynamic proportions. The front fascia is equipped with a closed grille typical of today's electric cars, paired with slim-designed Cyber Lightning headlights, reinforcing its futuristic character.
Moving to the side, a crossover coupe silhouette is clearly visible through the sloping roofline towards the rear. The Omoda O4 adopts a minimalist door and fender design to reduce the wind drag coefficient (aerodynamics) for better power consumption efficiency. Meanwhile, at the rear, the sporty impression is reinforced by the presence of integrated horizontal LED lights and a roof spoiler.
Stepping into the cabin, the driver is treated to a digital cockpit concept inspired by a spaceship cockpit. The interior is designed to be minimalist yet functional, dominated by a large touchscreen that acts as the control center. The interactive driving experience is also supported by a flip-start engine ignition button, built-in game support, and wireless controller (gamepad) connectivity.
Under the hood, the Omoda O4 is equipped with a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery with a capacity of 65.05 kWh. Based on the NEDC testing standard, this battery is claimed to be capable of supplying energy to cover a distance of up to 553 kilometers. The car also supports DC fast charging with a maximum capacity of 119 kW, capable of charging from 20 percent to 80 percent in just about 22 minutes.
The performance of the electric motor is capable of producing a maximum power of 160 kW and a peak torque of 275 Nm, enabling acceleration from a standstill to 100 kilometers per hour in 7.1 seconds. The introduction of the Omoda O4 in the domestic market also marks the beginning of the global expansion of their "Super AI Cockpit" technology, which is planned to enter the Southeast Asia and Middle East regions in the fourth quarter of 2026.
