PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI) continues to refine its digital transformation steps to provide optimal value added in the national financial ecosystem. Through strengthening its merchant network and accelerating the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) payment system, the state-owned banking issuer successfully recorded green report cards throughout the first quarter of 2026, while also reinforcing its transaction-based low-cost funds base.

Up to the March 2026 period, the number of merchants partnering with BRI surged to 323.7 thousand partners. This expansion successfully drove merchant transaction volume to grow by 26.5 percent year-on-year (yoy) to IDR 67.9 trillion. A positive record also came from the use of BRI's QRIS, whose transaction volume jumped significantly by 76 percent yoy to IDR 30.5 trillion, with the total frequency of transactions breaking 253 billion times, or up 86.7 percent yoy.

Director of Network & Retail Funding at BRI, Aquarius Rudianto, revealed that the strengthening of this digital payment ecosystem has a dual role. In addition to expanding access to integrated financial services for business actors, this strategy is also a reliable low-cost funds (CASA) collection engine. This strategic step aligns with Danantara's shared vision to present financial service efficiency oriented toward the real needs of the community.

According to Aquarius, around 98.9 percent of all transactions at BRI have now shifted to digital channels (e-channels). To maintain this momentum, BRI is actively running digital financial literacy education programs so that QRIS utilization becomes more evenly distributed across various levels of society. This effort is reinforced through the BRIvolution Reignite roadmap, which focuses on integrated customer transaction acquisition and merchant partnerships.

This impressive digital performance also became a solid pillar for BRI's financial structure at the beginning of 2026. The company's assets grew 7.2 percent yoy to IDR 2,250 trillion. In terms of fundraising, BRI's Third-Party Funds (DPK) sped up by 9.4 percent yoy to IDR 1,555.1 trillion. Interestingly, the portion of low-cost funds (CASA) dominated third-party funds at 68.07 percent or reaching IDR 1,058.6 trillion, showing an increase compared to the same period last year which stood at 65.77 percent.
