The hydrometeorological disaster caused by Tropical Cyclone Senyar not only damaged physical facilities but also crippled access to health services for vulnerable groups in Aceh Tamiang Regency. To address this issue, the Free Health Service (LKC) of Dompet Dhuafa Aceh initiated a Post-Disaster Recovery Program in Pangkalan Village, Kejuruan Muda District, scheduled to run until December 2026.
The initial step of this program was marked by a socialization session held on Saturday (25/7/2026). The activity involved at least 27 cross-sector participants, ranging from representatives of the community health center (Puskesmas), village government, village midwives, health cadres, to local community leaders. This collaboration aims to formulate a joint strategy to restore basic health facilities that were disrupted.
This recovery program focuses on three main pillars. First, the Maternal and Child Health (KIA) Post, which focuses on supporting pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and the growth and development of toddlers. Second, the Non-Communicable Diseases (PTM) Post, targeting the early detection and prevention of chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, and breast cancer. Third, the physical rehabilitation of the Village Maternity Hut (Polindes) based on joint assessment results.
Reza Angreini, the Post-Disaster Recovery Facilitator for LKC Dompet Dhuafa Aceh, emphasized the importance of a field-data-based approach before executing the program. The entire work plan will begin with a comprehensive assessment to map out priority health issues, ensuring that the interventions provided are on target and aligned with the needs of local residents.
Arfan Ramadhan, Regional Coordinator of LKC Dompet Dhuafa Aceh, explained that the single facilitator stationed in the village will act as a catalyst for collaboration rather than a sole executor. The sustainability of this program relies entirely on the active participation of health cadres and the spirit of mutual cooperation among all village stakeholders to optimize local potential.
Supported by funding from Dompet Dhuafa's zakat funds, this initiative is expected to build long-term health resilience in Pangkalan Village. Through intensive guidance, the village is targeted not only to recover from the impact of the cyclone but also to become self-reliant in facing potential health risks and future disasters.
