The Governor of Jambi, Dr. H. Al Haris, symbolically laid the first stone for the construction of the Kerinci Regency Regional General Hospital (RSUD) located in Bukit Tengah, Siulak District, on Sunday (5/7/2026). This strategic project is projected to be a representative medical service center that will support the needs of the community in the Kerinci region and its surroundings.
The Regent of Kerinci, Monadi, in his speech, emphasized that the realization of this construction is the fruit of a long struggle and intensive coordination with the central government. Despite facing the challenge of regional budget constraints, the collaboration between the Kerinci Regency Government and the full support of the local DPRD (Regional House of Representatives) successfully yielded tangible results. This new regional hospital is targeted to eventually upgrade to a Type C hospital status with more complete and modern facilities.
Furthermore, Monadi expressed his pride considering that Kerinci Regency was chosen as one of only four regions on Sumatra Island to receive a hospital construction program from the Ministry of Health. In addition to physical infrastructure, the regional government is also focusing on the readiness of human resources (HR) for health workers so that when it operates, the services provided will be truly optimal for the community.
Jambi Governor, Al Haris, reaffirmed his support for this project as a concrete step to improve health access in the region. The Jambi Provincial Government is committed to providing additional assistance, ranging from procurement of medical equipment, ambulance units, to scholarship support for general practitioners from Jambi who wish to specialize in fields such as surgery, anesthesia, and pulmonology.
The synergy between the central, provincial, and regency governments is expected to not only accelerate the completion of construction but also make Kerinci Regional Hospital an efficient and quality referral center. This momentum is hoped to become a strong foundation for improving the health status of the Kerinci community in the future.
