The Serang Regency Government has officially confirmed that tourist destinations in the Anyer and Cinangka Beach areas remain safe for visitors. This statement was issued as a preventive measure to correct misleading information regarding the activity status of Mount Anak Krakatau (GAK), which had caused concern among the public.
The Vice Regent of Serang, Muhammad Najib Hamas, conducted a direct inspection of the Mount Anak Krakatau Volcano Observation Post in Pasauran Village, Cinangka District, on Sunday (5/7/2026). During the visit, Najib ensured that the volcanic activity of Mount Anak Krakatau is currently trending downward, although its status remains at Level III (Alert).
Responding to video recordings circulating on social media depicting a major eruption of the volcano, the local government declared the content to be a hoax. Najib emphasized that the widely shared video was edited and did not reflect current facts on the ground. He urged the public not to be provoked by unverified information.
From a technical standpoint, volcano observation post officer Deny Mardiono explained that the safe distance from Mount Anak Krakatau's eruption center is outside a three-kilometer radius. Meanwhile, the Anyer and Cinangka tourist areas are located approximately 42 kilometers from the volcano, meaning they are geographically unaffected by volcanic material activity.
The Serang Regency Government invites tourists to proceed with their vacation plans without worry. To obtain accurate and credible information, the public and tourists are advised to monitor the latest updates through official channels such as the Magma Indonesia application or the official website of the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG).
