The City Government (Pemkot) of Sorong, Southwest Papua, is taking strategic steps to complete the administrative process for the asset utilization cooperation of Siloam Hospital (RS). This effort reflects the regional commitment to strengthening the health sector infrastructure for the broader public.
Mayor of Sorong, Septinus Lobat, emphasized that the development of Siloam Hospital is a priority program designed not only to meet the medical needs of local residents, but also to serve as a referral center for the broader Papua region. Therefore, cross-sectoral synergy within the Sorong City Government is an absolute prerequisite to ensure that hospital operations run effectively and sustainably.
Regarding asset status, Acting Regional Secretary of Sorong City, Ruddy R. Lakku, explained that his side is taking a cautious approach due to an existing cooperation contract between the hospital and the previous Sorong Regency Government. The local government has chosen a precise legal route to avoid potential future disputes, including plans to request a legal opinion from the Sorong District Court.
In addition to cooperation aspects, the government is also focused on resolving land administration issues, which include applying for the reissuance of a certificate previously reported missing and finalizing Right to Manage (HPL) documents. These steps are being intensively coordinated with the local Land Office.
To guarantee legal certainty, the Sorong City Government has also instructed its legal division to review all draft cooperation agreements in accordance with current regulations. This refers to Government Regulation (PP) No. 28 of 2020 on regional property management, ensuring that every administrative stage has a strong legal foundation.
