In commemoration of Bung Karno Month, the Regional Leadership Council (DPD) of PDI Perjuangan Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) held a humanitarian action providing free health examination services for the general public. The event, held at the DIY DPD PDI Perjuangan office on Jalan Tentara Rakyat Mataram, Yogyakarta City, attracted hundreds of residents eager to check their physical health condition.
In collaboration with the PDI Perjuangan Disaster Management Agency (BAGUNA), this program provided various medical services, ranging from blood pressure checks, blood sugar levels, uric acid, to direct consultation sessions with professional healthcare workers. The enthusiasm of the residents was evident from early in the morning as they orderly gathered at the venue.
Vice Chair for Women, Children, and Health of DPD PDI Perjuangan DIY, dr. Retno Handayani Pramestri Dewi, emphasized the importance of this activity as a tool for early detection of non-communicable diseases. According to her, public awareness in regularly monitoring health is the main key to preventing disease complications such as diabetes and high cholesterol.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of DPD PDI Perjuangan DIY, Yan Kurnia Kustanto, stated that this social initiative is an embodiment of politics as humanitarian work. He stressed that the action aligns with Bung Karno's vision of struggle as well as Megawati Soekarnoputri's directives, putting the interests of the community above any form of formal political activity.
The party hopes this health service can facilitate residents who have so far faced obstacles in accessing formal healthcare facilities. Through this activity, PDI Perjuangan DIY strives to present concrete solutions while instilling values of social care in the community.
