The Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kanwil Kemenkumham) of the Bangka Belitung Islands has taken concrete steps to strengthen the community's economic sector. Through a socialization activity in Batu Tunggal Village, Bangka Regency, the institution educated home-based business operators on the importance of having a formal legal entity and legal protection for their products.
The Head of the Babel Regional Office of Kemenkumham, Johan Manurung, emphasized that business legality and intellectual property (IP) protection are not just about administrative compliance. Both are crucial foundations for home-scale businesses to grow professionally, safely, and with high competitiveness to penetrate wider markets.
The event, which focused on legal and safe business development, was attended by 100 local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). During the forum, participants were provided with an understanding of the ease of establishing a sole proprietorship, as well as registration procedures for trademarks and copyrights to protect the uniqueness of their products from being misused by other parties.
In line with this, the Head of the Legal Services Division at the Babel Regional Office of Kemenkumham, Kaswo, reminded that processing legality is a long-term investment. Having official permits and intellectual property certification is believed to boost business credibility in the eyes of consumers and facilitate access to partnerships and capital.
The Babel Kemenkumham authorities also urged business pioneers not to delay this certification process. Currently, the General Legal Administration (AHU) and Intellectual Property service systems have been integrated online, providing easy access for the public to secure the rights to their products from an early stage.
