The Sidenreng Rappang (Sidrap) Regency Government, along with the local PKK Mobilization Team (TP PKK), held an international health seminar titled “Latest Updates on Cancer Treatment” at the Saromase Hall, SKPD Sidrap Complex, on Sunday (5/7/2026). This activity is a strategic step by the local government to educate the public regarding the importance of cancer prevention.

The Regent of Sidrap, Syaharuddin Alrif, who officially opened the event, highlighted the phenomenon of many patients only realizing they have cancer when it enters an advanced stage. According to him, understanding early symptoms and the fundamental differences between tumors and cancer is crucial so that the community can take preventive measures more quickly.

"One knowledgeable cadre can save dozens of families. Therefore, the knowledge gained from this seminar must be disseminated down to the family and posyandu (integrated health post) levels so that Sidrap becomes a health-conscious region," said Syaharuddin. He also added that the Sidrap Regency Government has allocated a special budget through the APBD (Regional Budget) and BOK (Health Operational Assistance) Funds, which has proven successful in reaching 15,000 residents for health screening since last year.

Chairperson of the Sidrap TP PKK, Haslindah Syaharuddin, stated that the cross-border collaboration with Damansara Specialist Hospital, Malaysia, is a concrete manifestation of care in providing quality health education. She emphasized that the TP PKK ranks at all levels are ready to be at the forefront of socializing healthy lifestyles.

The seminar featured expert speakers from Malaysia and Jakarta to discuss early detection methods and modern cancer treatments. Through this initiative, the government hopes that public life expectancy can increase significantly along with higher public awareness of conducting regular health check-ups.
