The National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) for the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) has taken a strategic step to advance regional sports achievement by signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) and Cooperation Agreements (PKS) with several institutions. This collaboration involves the education, health, and mass media sectors to establish a more holistic support system for athletes.
General Chairman of KONI DIY, K.G.P.A.A. Paku Alam X, emphasized that a resilient sports ecosystem cannot be built independently. According to him, sports achievement is the accumulation of a long process involving the synergy of various elements, ranging from athletes' discipline, coaches' dedication, family roles, to the contributions of behind-the-scenes figures often unseen by the public.
Through this partnership, KONI DIY aims to strengthen several vital areas. The health sector is expected to optimize fitness and accelerate injury recovery for athletes. Meanwhile, the involvement of educational institutions is projected to ensure the intellectual capacity building and future of athletes beyond the competitive arena. Additionally, digital technology and mass media support are aimed at facilitating sports data management and enhancing public appreciation.
Several partners involved in this cooperation include Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), Universitas Teknologi Digital Indonesia (UTDI), RSPAU dr. S. Hardjolukito, Siloam Hospitals Yogyakarta, Queen Latifa Hospital Group, and the media outlet Pandangan Jogja. This collaborative effort is expected to serve as a strong foundation for raising sports development standards in the DIY region in the future.
