The Singhasari Special Economic Zone (SEZ), East Java, continues to reinforce its position as an international-standard human resource (HR) development hub. This strategic step was realized through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the prestigious Indian business education institution, Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), in Jakarta on Monday (6/7/2026).

Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Susiwijono Moegiarso, stated that this collaboration marks an important milestone in strengthening the education and digital economy ecosystem in Indonesia. IIMB's presence complements Singhasari SEZ's portfolio, which previously partnered with renowned institutions such as King’s College London for digital economy and future programs.

David Santoso, President Director of PT Intelegensia Grahatama, explained that Singhasari SEZ carries the concept of a 'Human Development Zone'. Its main focus is not limited to formal education, but also includes job training and vocational education. To ensure equitable quality of education, the management applies a non-competition policy between majors for each partner university to create complementary curricula.

Meanwhile, Jitamitra Desai, Chair of Excellence & Professor from IIMB, expressed commitment to delivering expertise across various crucial fields, ranging from operations strategy, financial analysis, to artificial intelligence (AI) utilization and digital transformation. The presence of these programs is expected to address the needs of a dynamic global market.

The MoU signing ceremony was also witnessed by the Indian Ambassador to Indonesia, Sandeep Chakravorty, along with related leadership officials. This cross-country synergy is projected to accelerate the transformation of Indonesian human resources to become more competitive in the future global economic arena.
