The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum has officially agreed on a joint commitment to strengthen the utilization of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI). This strategic step was taken to accelerate inclusive, equitable, and sustainable economic development across the Asia-Pacific region.

The agreement emphasizes the importance of digital transformation as a key driver of modern economic growth. APEC leaders highlighted that the integration of advanced technologies like AI will unlock new opportunities for the business sector, particularly micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to penetrate the global market.

While offering great potential, APEC also underscored the challenge of the digital divide that still exists among member economies. Therefore, this collaboration will focus on improving digital infrastructure, enhancing technological literacy for the public, and drafting ethical and safe regulations regarding the implementation of artificial intelligence.

Through closer partnership, APEC member economies are optimistic that the responsible adoption of digital technology will be able to create new jobs and strengthen the region's economic resilience in the face of future global uncertainties.
