Economic relations between Indonesia and Japan have entered a new chapter following a strategic meeting between the Jakarta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN DKI Jakarta) and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Tokyo. The meeting, led directly by the Chairwoman of KADIN DKI Jakarta, Diana Dewi, and warmly received by the Indonesian Ambassador to Japan, Dr. Nurmala Kartini Pandjaitan Sjahrir, aims to open investment channels and expand concrete business partnerships between the two countries.
On this occasion, Diana Dewi emphasized the importance of transforming long-standing diplomatic relations into tangible business transaction opportunities. This synergy is expected to enable local entrepreneurs, especially those under the auspices of KADIN DKI Jakarta, to enter global supply chains and enhance the competitiveness of Indonesian products in the Japanese market.
Ambassador Nurmala Sjahrir welcomed the initiative and appreciated KADIN DKI Jakarta's active steps in meeting Japanese business actors through business matching activities. Given that the diplomatic relations between the two countries will turn 70 in 2028, this momentum is seen as a golden opportunity to strengthen collaboration in innovation, trade, and investment.
As a concrete action, KADIN DKI Jakarta is committed to supporting the economic promotion programs of the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, including through the development of an Indonesian Corner at the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Indonesia (Konhor RI) in Japan. This facility will serve as a permanent showcase presenting various information on trade potential, investment, tourism, and top national products ready to be absorbed by the Japanese market.
KADIN DKI Jakarta also plans to build a pipeline system of potential Japanese companies to ensure the business meeting agenda runs sustainably. This step is taken to ensure that the collaboration is not merely ceremonial, but capable of producing productive economic transactions and beneficial technology transfer for domestic business actors.
