Tech giant Apple Inc. has officially announced the expansion of a strategic agreement with chipmaker Broadcom Inc. This step is a concrete manifestation of Apple's commitment to boosting domestic component production in the United States. The total value of the agreement is projected to exceed US$30 billion, or equivalent to IDR 540.2 trillion.
In its official statement, Apple emphasized that this collaboration will focus on the production of more than 15 billion US-made chips. This initiative not only strengthens the company's global supply chain but is also projected to absorb hundreds of new jobs. In addition to funding support, Apple is also providing assistance in the development of Broadcom's production facilities located in Colorado.
This long-term partnership is planned to run until 2031. This announcement complements the initial information previously delivered by Broadcom, which at the time had not yet transparently disclosed the details of the investment value to the public.
This massive investment is an integral part of a US$600 billion investment commitment launched by Apple to support the industrial ecosystem in the United States. This grand plan was in the public spotlight when Apple CEO Tim Cook discussed the initiative at the White House with President Donald Trump last year.
