President Director of BPJS Kesehatan, Prihati Pujowaskito, officially flagged off the departure of the Ksatria Airlangga Hospital Ship (RSKKA) from Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya, on Sunday (7/12/2026). This strategic move was made to reach communities in the island regions of Sumenep Regency, Madura, who have long faced limited access to healthcare facilities.
Prihati emphasized that this initiative is a concrete manifestation of BPJS Kesehatan's commitment to implementing the JKN (National Health Insurance) program in 3T (frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped) regions. According to him, efforts to equalize access to healthcare services are a top priority so that all citizens, including those in remote island corners such as Raas Island, Karamian Island, and Masalembu Island, receive their right to proper health coverage.
"BPJS Kesehatan is committed to providing compensation for mobile service provision in areas that do not yet have adequate healthcare facilities, provided there is formal support from the local government. We also ensure that every operation of this floating hospital strictly adheres to standard medical and safety procedures," Prihati stated.
Meanwhile, the Director of RSK Ksatria Airlangga, Dr. Agus Harianto, conveyed that this humanitarian mission is scheduled to run for ten days, from July 14 to July 24, 2026. The team aims to serve at least 100 patients on each island visited, with total patient projections reaching into the thousands given the high enthusiasm of residents from surrounding islands.
To maximize services, the medical team on duty has set a target of an average of five major surgeries per day at each stopover location. In addition to major surgical procedures, the ship will also offer minor surgeries and other general health services based on residents' needs as well as referrals from local healthcare facilities.
