The Hulu Sungai Utara (HSU) Regency Government is now moving swiftly following its designation as the host of the 13th South Kalimantan Provincial Sports Week (Porprov XIII) in 2029. The decision, verified by the South Kalimantan KONI, serves as a catalyst for the local government to accelerate various aspects of preparation.

Regent of Hulu Sungai Utara, Sahrujani, emphasized that this trust will be utilized not only to ensure the success of the competition, but also as a stepping stone to elevate the quality of local athletes. The government's primary focus over the coming years is to upgrade sports infrastructure that does not yet meet competition standards.

Several strategic facilities, such as basketball courts and boxing arenas, are top priorities for rehabilitation to meet technical feasibility requirements. Meanwhile, for the futsal sport, the local government stated that existing facilities are already adequately representative. Interestingly, venue development will not be centralized solely in the regency capital, but will be distributed down to the sub-district level to scout athletic talent from remote areas.

In addition to physical infrastructure, the local government is also focusing on strengthening the capacity of local athletes. Intensive training programs will be prepared so that HSU athletes possess high competitiveness when competing on home soil. With the preparation timeframe extending to 2029, the HSU Regency Government is optimistic about providing adequate facilities while achieving proud accomplishments in the provincial sports arena.
