The Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) of Lampung Province has officially begun early preparations for the 2027 National Journalists Sports Week (Porwanas). This initial step focuses on the athlete selection process for chess and dominoes to strengthen the Lampung contingent for the event, which is scheduled to take place in April 2027.
As a prospective host, PWI Lampung is showing serious commitment to scouting the best talent among journalists. A total of 20 participants enthusiastically took part in the chess selection. They will later be filtered further to enter intensive training camps to pursue medal targets.
The Manager of the Chess Branch of PWI Lampung, Bey Sujarwo, stated that this selection process is not just a physical competition, but a test of intellectual sharpness. According to him, chess shares a philosophy with the world of journalism, where every step requires a mature strategy, high precision, and sound decision-making under pressure.
PWI Lampung is optimistic that the regional contingent will perform dominantly and maintain its tradition of achievement at Porwanas 2027. Through early, structured preparation, the management hopes to bring honor to Lampung as the host and as a developer of highly competitive journalist-athletes.
