Police officers from the Selo Police Station, Boyolali Police Department, successfully secured the procession of the Mount Merapi Wilujengan tradition organized by the Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace. The annual cultural ritual was centered in the New Selo parking area, Lencoh Village, Selo District, Boyolali, on Wednesday (7/8/2026).

The presence of police personnel at the location aimed to guarantee security and comfort for the ritual participants. This tradition is an expression of gratitude to God Almighty, as well as a prayer for the safety of residents living on the slopes of Mount Merapi.

The traditional ceremony was attended by several key figures, including KGBH Adipati Drs. Dipokusumo, M.Si., members of the Selo Forkopimcam (district leadership coordination forum), the local village government, as well as around 200 royal courtiers (abdi dalem) and religious scholars from the Surakarta Palace. The procession proceeded solemnly, beginning with a communal feast (kenduri) and followed by the handing over of offerings (uborampe) to Kedaton Merapi as a symbol of preserved custom.

Chief of Selo Police, Police Chief Inspector (AKP) Kiryanta, S.H., emphasized that the police's involvement in this event is a tangible form of support for local cultural preservation efforts. He expressed commitment to continuing synergy with all community elements to create a safe and conducive environment for all community activities.

Thanks to solid coordination between the Surakarta Palace, event organizers, and security forces, the entire series of Mount Merapi Wilujengan rituals was completed orderly and without significant obstacles until the event concluded.
