The Narcotics Investigation Unit of the Cimahi Police successfully uncovered 40 cases of narcotics abuse and trafficking over the past month. From these operations, police officers secured 50 suspects, all of whom were identified as new players and not repeat offenders.
Cimahi Police Chief, AKBP Niko N. Adi Putra, explained that the total seized evidence is estimated to be worth around IDR 2 billion and is claimed to save approximately 300,000 lives from the dangers of drug addiction. The details of the confiscated evidence include 1,197 grams of crystal meth, 370.63 grams of marijuana, 376.14 grams of synthetic tobacco, 53.2 milliliters of synthetic liquid, as well as thousands of illegal prescription drug pills and ecstasy pills.
One prominent case in this operation was the arrest of a young man with the initials IG (27) in the Gunung Batu area. Police seized the remaining 600 grams of crystal meth from a total of one kilogram he had possessed, while the other 400 grams are suspected to have already been distributed. Based on the interrogation, the suspect admitted to spending up to IDR 800 million as initial capital to acquire the illicit drugs.
Currently, investigators from the Cimahi Police Narcotics Unit are continuing their investigation to trace the drug supply network above the suspect. For their actions, the suspects face multiple charges under Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics and Law No. 17 of 2023 on Health, carrying a minimum prison sentence of six years to life imprisonment.
