The 2026 Bojonegoro Regency Sports Week (Porkab) II event has become an important catalyst for martial arts athlete development in the region. The Indonesian Karate-Do Federation (FORKI) of Bojonegoro Regency is utilizing this momentum as the main stage to map and recruit potential young athletes who will later be relied upon in the 9th East Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov IX).

The karate competition, centered at GOR Sumberejo over two days from July 6 to 7, 2026, presented intense competition among athletes from various districts. A total of 76 selected karateka from 121 applicants competed for agility across 96 match categories, representing 22 district contingents across the Bojonegoro region.

The Committee Chairman, Mujib Amrillah, S.Kom, emphasized that the high enthusiasm shown by participants is a positive indicator for the growth of karate at the regional level. According to him, this event is designed as an objective selection process, where each athlete's performance record during the matches serves as the primary benchmark.

The results of Porkab II will serve as a crucial foundation in forming the Regency Training Center (Puslatkab) scheme. Athletes evaluated as demonstrating peak performance and sustainable potential will be called up for an intensive training program as a thorough preparation step for larger challenges at the East Java Porprov IX event.
